Perrydell Farm Dairy
Stop in and Sample Everybody’s
Favorite Chocolate Milk
Tom Perry says one thing makes his family’s
Perrydell Farm, in Leader Heights, York County, different
from other dairy producers: “We bottle our
own milk. That’s rare—not only in Pennsylvania but
across the nation.”
Known for its smooth and creamy chocolate milk,
Perrydell, founded in 1922, also bottles its hormonefree
milk in vanilla and strawberry flavors and plain
varieties within hours of milking, and delivers them
to their farm market store the same day.
“The milk in our store was probably in the cow
that morning,” Perry says. “That freshness makes
the difference.”
The Perry family’s 135 Holsteins are replenished
from its herd and raised on farm-grown feed. Tom
and his brothers, Chip and Greg, are third-generation
owners who live and work together with their
families on the farm’s 171 acres. Their parents,
George and Nancy, live just down the road and
help out daily wherever needed. Perrydell, featured
among York County producers offering tours, lets
visitors pet calves or watch the milk bottling process.
In addition to its milk, ice cream is available at the
farm market store.
“We all pull together and have a good time. People
get to see what it’s like to live on a farm. But for us,
it’s just carrying on that family tradition,” says Perry.
